Self Care

The Yoga Of Self Care

I've been a meditator and had a yoga practice of one kind or another over many years. I've had periods when I've not sat or taken advantage of the benefits of yoga and meditation and every time I come back to my practice I wonder why I stepped away because each time I come back my practice is deeper and richer and I remember how much it helps me.

One of my favorite forms of yoga is a practice called Restorative Yoga which involves slow passive movements that I've find very helpful in managing stress and fatigue.

One of my favorite books in this area is Relax and Renew: Restful Yoga for Stressful Times - By Judith Hanson Lasater, Ph.D., P.T.

I have it on my Kindle and love it.

This link will take you to a nice read on Restorative Yoga.  Enjoy.

The Sweet Power Of Trees

Trees have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. The first time I saw the second Lord of The Rings movie and I saw the Ents ( Giant Tree Like Beings) I felt like I had found some of my tribe. Redwoods are some of my favorites and the memory of walking among them at the University of California at Santa Cruz remains with me almost 20 years later.

Here are a couple of great reads on the sweetness of trees.  Enjoy!
